Cards & Games

Duplicate Bridge is played every Friday at 1:00 PM in the Glassford Hills Library (GHL). Currently, there are 10 plus players on the list to play, so everyone may not be able to play every week. Barbara Bruno provides organization and scheduling for the group, so she can be contacted by email or phone if you are interested in playing and you are not already on the list of players.

Social Bridge is played every Tuesday at 1:00 PM in the Glassford Hills Library (GHL). Currently, there are 10 plus players on the list to play, so everyone may not be able to play every week. Joanne Morrill will assist with organization for the group. There is a sign-up sheet in the Glassford Hills Library that you can add your name to if you want to play on the following Tuesday.

Cards and Games is played every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 1:00 PM in the Mingus Mountain Forum (MMF). This is an informal group of players and there is no sign-up ahead of time required. Simply come to play on the designated day, and the card games or other games to play will be decided at that time.

Mahjongg (part of Cards & Games) is played on Thursdays at 1:00 PM in the Glassford Hills Library (GHL). All interested residents are welcome to come watch and see if they wish to pursue the game. Free lessons are available on YouTube. We suggest checking out the five lessons for beginners below as well as the lessons by Michelle Frizzell. She offers multiple 5-20 minute lessons on all aspects of the game. Experienced Touchmark players will also assist those new to the game.

The following was provided in a recent Touchmark TED Talks handout:

"TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) Talks are educational conferences and satellite events around the world where presenters touch on a vast array of research categories from business and technology to health and the natural world."

The Talks usually include three or four short (approx 10 minutes) videos on a related topic. Each video is followed by a group discussion which is often quite interesting due to the varied personal knowledge of individual attendees.

The moderator chooses a topic and the participants decide which of the available videos they would like to watch. Talks are held in the Private Conference Room (#138) of the Grand Lodge. That room is across the hall from Charley's Bistro and the door is self-locking. Accordingly, around presentation time the door will be blocked open with a book or similar object or you'll have to knock for admission.

Please note that the location of the meeting is due to change to the nearby Mingus Mountain Room of the Grand Lodge after blackout shades have been installed. You are urged to check both locations for this event.
